17 miners are trapped in an elevator at a salt mine in Lansing, New York (about 40 miles outside Syracuse, near Ithaca).

Emergency Management in Tompkins County said that the miners have been trapped 775 below ground since 10:30P.M. last night, but rescue workers have had radio contact with them. The rescuers have also been able to get blankets, heat packs and other supplies to the miners.

A crane from Auburn arrived at the Cargill Salt Mine this morning to assit with the rescue.

*As of 7:00A.M. - 4 of the trapped miners have been rescued.

*As of 8:35A.M - All 17 miners have been rescued!!!
