20 of the Best Big Sean Guest Verses
As quiet as its kept, Detroit has produced many of the most talented lyricists in hip-hop, ranging from underground mainstays Guilty Simpson, Slum Village and Elzhi, all the way to one of the greatest MCs of all time, Eminem. So it’s no surprise that D-Town’s own Big Sean stays true to the culture, considering that he cites Slim Shady as one of his influences and always keep it lit on the mic. Ever since he signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint, he’s been making his mark in hip-hop across three albums, litany of mixtapes and a new project with Jhene Aiko called TWENTY88, which he touches on his XXL cover story.
The rapper, born Sean Anderson, is known for his witty and slick bars, ill rhyme patterns and rapid-fire flow. It’s what raised the eyebrows of folks like Kanye West when Sean freestyled for him at a Detroit radio station in 2005. Eventually, he was signed to G.O.O.D. Music in 2007, where he began his four-year mixtape run, starting with Finally Famous: The Mixtape and his debut album, Finally Famous, released in 2011.
One of the illest things about Sean Don is that he has a knack for having some lit collaborations along with great chemistry with his peers on a track. Not only that, but his versatility is nothing to play with as he can deliver a dope verse on any song from any genre, whether it’s pop (his ex-bae Ariana Grande), R&B (Jhene Aiko) and especially hip-hop.
To honor this, XXL presents the 20 best Big Sean Guest Verses.
