A 22-year-old woman will spend six months behind bars and five years on probation after pleading guilty to a deadly hit and run accident in August of 2014.

Ashley Sawicki told police that she had been out drinking with her mother at some local bars when she got behind the wheel and hit Jennifer Martello as she was walking down Big Tree Road in Hamburg.

Sawicki admitted that she then got out of her car, saw Jennifer Martello's body and drove off.

Ashley Sawicki will serve six months in Erie County Jail, followed by five years of probation. In addition, the judge is requiring her to speak to high school and college students about the consequences of drinking, driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
