Ok the BEST VIEW in WNY to sit this coming summer and have lunch is PETER'S POINT at Zoar Valley! I go with my Dad, my son Derek, and his cousins to do a Zoar Valley hike every year (plan 3-4 hours) and we always have lunch at Peter's Point. Google it! Head down 62 South and once you hit Gowanda turn east onto Water street which turns into Broadway (not NYC!) - at the top of the hill turn right onto Point Peters road then left onto Valentines Flat road, park at the end of this road.

From there you walk about a half mile in. And those stories about people getting killed hiking Zoar Valley? Listen, just don't do anything stupid and you and your kids will be fine. I had Derek on this hike with me and my Dad when he was 3 years old and he loved it. After lunch keep following the trail down till you hit the water. As you can see from the photo's the views once you get down are breathtaking! Certain parts of the water are super shallow the kids can put their feet in to cool off. Derek loves throwing rocks in the water so I am sure your kids will too!

So once again Mom's when setting up your 2016 Summer calendar be sure to call Grandpa, and include a day to hike from like 11-4 at Zoar Valley. To me one of the secret hidden treasures in all of WNY. Yes the leaves look nice in the Fall, but this is a great hike to do anytime after May. ALSO if you are into rafting - I think adventure calls (google it) start rafting tours in early April. Call me at the station if you have any questions!
