When it comes time for your child to leave home and start the next chapter of their life, it tends to be a difficult ordeal.

However, there's a bright side to most changes in life, this major change included.

Do you remember the day you said goodbye to your childhood bedroom and set off into adulthood? I can remember leaving home and spending a lot of nights after that eating ramen noodles for dinner. So if I can suggest one thing: promise your kids lots of home-cooked meals if they'll visit home. And obviously resort to nagging when they take too long to call or write.

Are there any parents reading today who have a child leaving home for the first time? How about parents that have already sent a child off into the world, or parents that aren't far off from doing so? Even though I still have a few children at home, it doesn't make it any easier to let one of my children leave the nest for good. Like most things that are hard, it gets easier over time but the initial sting hurts for a bit. And then the grandchildren come along one day making it all worthwhile...

If you want to send in a dedication for someone you love today, or just whine a little bit about how much you miss someone, call me at 1-888-633-5452. I've been told I'm a pretty good listener and I'm sure I can find the right song for your situation.
