A sight-seeing plane carrying eight passengers from a Holland America cruise ship went down in a remote area of southeast Alaska on Thursday.

The wreckage was found against a granite rock face, about 800 hundred feet above a lake, and representatives from the National Transportation Safety Board's Alaska office said that it's too early to tell what circumstances may have caused the crash.

The rain and windy conditions halted any type of immediate rescue, but emergency personnel are on their way to the Ella Lake area today.

It has been confirmed that all eight passengers and the pilot died in the crash.
