The Amherst Police shot and killed the bear that had been roaming around the area for the past two weeks.

The bear who we named "Doopah" who was hit by a car last week had been roaming around densely populated neighborhoods in Amherst.

Police told WGRZ the reason they shot and killed the bear.

"appeared unable to continue its normal travel habits," because it had been hit by a car.

The officers on site determined that the bear was a danger to the public in its condition and that is why they shot and killed it.

The bear was located walking around Renaissance Drive and Covent Garden Lane.

WGRZ also posted on its Twitter page a memorial that someone created for the bear.
