"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
(bonus points if you know who said that!)

It's official, Buffalo...we're in major flu season.  As a rule, I've been ridiculously reluctant in getting my flu shot.  No, I'm not one of those people who says it actually GETS you sick (it doesn't) or has any kind of religious issues against it (I don't), or thinks I'm some kind of Superwoman (I am) that is somehow impervious to illness (I'm not.)  I'm just plain old lazy.  I know it's not a great idea to avoid it...especially because I have asthma.  But I just always put it off and put it off...Ok, maybe not lazy, but more of a Champion Procrastinator.

And plus, how could something that looks SO COOL make you feel SO LOUSY!?!?

Ok so that's an artist rendition of the flu virus.  It's still pretty cool.

Look, we've all been through it in one way or another.  Either we're encompassed by it, or our kids or family members are.  I know around the Joy FM studio, there's been an awful lot of sniffles being heard in the hallways.  It's not rocket science, it's common sense:

-get your flu shot (do as I say, not as I do)
-wash your hands with soap and water, often
-use that anti-bacterial stuff your officemate has on their desk
-cough/sneeze into the crook of your arm
-wipe anything you're routinely touching down with anti-bacterial wipes
-if you're sick, stay home

...do what Mom always said:  plenty of rest, plenty of fluids (now's the time for a Hot Toddy!), and up your vitamin C like crazy.

I literally take between 1000 and 1500 mgs of vitamin C a day during flu season.  It hasn't caught me yet... ;)
