Whenever we see a promo for "Austin and Ally" on the Disney Channel, somebody lets out a yell in my house. The new show is causing more excitement than most because of a family tie. My niece traveled out to the bright lights of Hollywood a few years ago and landed a job behind the scenes.

My niece, Amelia Sims, grew up in Duluth, Georgia, a suburb northwest of Atlanta. She's my sister Linda's oldest child and the oldest of six grandchildren in our family. Amelia was always reading books as a kid and had traveled the world (all seven continents) by the time she graduated high school.

After getting a degree from the University of Georgia, Amelia headed west to Hollywood with hopes of becoming a screenwriter. She worked various jobs, before landing a position as an Assistant to the Executive Producers of a new show called "Austin and Ally."

Amelia's been working behind the scenes for months now and the show is set to premiere in December. We can't wait to watch!

The Show is produced by Heath Seifert and Kevin Kopelow who also wrote and created the shows "All That" and "Kenan and Kel" for Nickelodeon before moving to Disney. For more fun with Austin and Ally click here!
