Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten Season for Christians around the world.

The 40 days of Lent signify the 40 days that Jesus spent fasting in the desert.

The ashes come from the practice of burning the palm branches that were blessed from the previous Palm Sunday.

While most Catholic Churches will offer Mass and/or a Word Service, there are other Christian dominations that are offering "Ashes To Go."
