Even though she was plagued by protestors on the Asian leg of the Born This Way Ball tour, Lady Gaga was still laughing all the way to the bank. She placed No. 5 overall on Pollstar’s Top 50 Worldwide Tours for the first half of 2012. While rockers such as Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay placed ahead of her, along with Cirque du Soleil, Gaga is the female with the top-grossing tour so far. And guess what? She hasn’t even hit Europe or her native North America yet.
Anyone who saw her (coolly received at the box office) film ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me‘ knows that pop diva Katy Perry was torn up by the breakdown of her marriage to funnyman Russell Brand, as evidenced by that whole sobbing backstage scene.
On tonight’s (July 17) episode of ‘The Glee Project,’ the remaining eight contestants were asked to demonstrate theatricality. Nellie didn’t quite cut it, nor had she fully immersed herself in any of the assignments or videos throughout the season, and as a result, she was sent home.
Taylor Swift has become a bit of a fashion icon to fans, with her familiar and iconic red-stained lips and black eyeliner look being copied by young girls who revere her. In this new, behind-the-scenes footage of her recent CoverGirl commercial, the ‘Mean’ singer explains that the whole message of her latest cosmetics company campaign is “See Yourself, Be Yourself.” So rather than hide behind makeup, use it as a tool to enhance natural beauty.
On tonight’s (July 5) episode of ‘Duets,’ the superstars and amateurs were asked to sing standards — classic songs that have stood the test of time. Sugarland singer (and expectant mother) Jennifer Nettles and her ace partner J. Rome offered up their rendition of Billie Holiday’s ‘God Bless the Child,’ which was penned in 1939. How’d they do?
Demi Lovato appears on the cover of the August issue of 'Self'. It’s her birthday month — she’ll be 20 on Aug. 20 — and what a way to celebrate. The ish doesn’t hit stands until next week but you can take a peek of the bright and sunny cover image of the singer and new ‘X Factor‘ judge, since it has leaked.
Chris Martin of Coldplay and his wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, are a celeb couple rarely photographed in public together, intentionally trying to sweep the spotlight away from their status, as well, a celeb couple. Photos of the duo are so rare that we couldn’t find a decent one for this post! However, during last Friday’s (June 30) Coldplay gig in Miami, the singer threw caution to the wind. He did a complete about face, running up the venue steps and into the crowd seats to plant a big ol’ smooch on his wife and baby mama Gwynnie’s lips … in front of several tens of thousands of their closest fans.
Kelly Clarkson covers the August issue of Lucky, showing off that svelte, hard-earned new figure in skintight jeans and a cropped red blazer, which she paired with her usual light brown hair. Clarkson actually lightened to blonde last month, but she looks gorgeous either way. In this spread, she comes off as a normal gal and that’s just how she prefers it. She’s Kelly Clarkson: Anti-Pop Star.
Ever stylish singer (and fashion designer) Gwen Stefani isn’t merely focused on ‘Push and Shove,’ No Doubt‘s first new album in over a decade, which is due to drop in September. Ahead of the album’s release, the diva will partner up with the also fashionable First Lady Michelle Obama for a ‘Family Day’ fundraiser that she will host in her Beverly Hills home. How gracious of our gal Gwen to let deep pocket Democrats into her home for a quality hang.
Katy Perry‘s concert film/documentary hybrid ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ is not all ribbons and rainbows. While there are lots of confections, in the form of her candy-themed costumes and her cheery disposition, the cameras are still rolling when the ‘Wide Awake’ singer melts down sobbing in a fetal position, barely able to take the stage before thousands of fans in Brazil because her relationship with then-husband Russell Brand is a wreck. It’s those moments that make ‘Part of Me’ a “must see” film for Katy Cats.
