Back To School Tips for Parents, The Most Excited 4th Grader, + 5-year-old Philanthropist
First, some tips for parents according to National Louis University (and you can find MORE tips here).
- Be on time every day, especially for the first month. It sets a precedence and habit, and kid's performances increase with the structure.
- Email the teacher to put your kid on their rada, and let them know you're approachable and engaged.
- Plan the night before, since it's easy for school mornings to get out of control quickly. Each kid should have a place for their things the night before, so they can grab and go.
- Don't hover with homework, unless the teacher specifically asks you to help work through every problem.
I used to get SUPER excited for back to school....loved the new clothes, new classrooms, new teachers, new everything!
I don't know, though, if I was ever THIS enthusiastic.
Finally, if EVERY kid was encouraged to do something like this, we're in for a WORLD of a wonderful future.
A FIVE-year-old boy in New Jersey saved up his allowance for seven months. Not because he wanted to buy himself a new scooter, but because he wanted to buy lunch for his local police department.
Melt my heart, why dontcha.
