Black Bear Sighting in Hamburg

According to a Facebook post from the Town of Hamburg Police, a black bear has been spotted near the Rogers Road area.

A sighting doesn't constitute a call to 911 however. According to the Buffalo News, people should keep their distance if they see a bear. The Buffalo News notes recommendations from the Department of Environmental Conservation to keep bears away from populated areas, including "removing bird feeders after April 1, keeping garbage in sealed cans and removing grease from grills after every use."
