You know how it used to be. You'd spend Black Friday Eve in your car [hopefully listening to me playing all your Christmas hits] or standing in line outside the store with the best deals. Now you've got to leave the dirty dishes in the sink, so you can be at the stores at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving night. Sounds more exciting, doesn't it? Maybe there'll be huge bargains. Well, maybe.

The shopper's blog NerdWallet notes that, while most stores have a spectacular doorbuster or two, we'll probably be paying about the same, or even a little bit more, for Black Friday items. The site features a chart that reveals 20 of 22 stores checked are featuring at least one item for the same price, or slightly more than last year.

NerdWallet adds that the median price for items at three major Black Friday stores will be higher than last year..Walmart and Target are up about two dollars from last year, while Best Buy's median price is up five dollars from 2011!

So is it worth ducking out of Thanksgiving festivities for a bargain or two? Up to you of course. As always, check the ads, look for the deals you seek on the items you want. Get there early. Be careful in crowds. And if you're in the car, make sure you're listening to The New 96.1 Joy FM to get you in the mood!
