An Amtrak train traveling from Toronto to Niagara Falls was halted for about two hours on Wednesday following a routine check near Lockport Road.

Passenger train 64 was stopped for police activity when a bomb sniffing dog from the Niagara County Sheriff's Department smelled explosives on a piece of luggage.

Amtrak Police took over the investigation and called in the bomb squad. The train was evacuated, and no passengers were in danger. The search came up empty and service resumed shortly after.
