Buffalo Police are investigating a tragic incident in the city’s Riverside neighborhood.  Authorities say a young boy is dead and a 38-year-old grandmother was fatally shot by police when she allegedly lunged at officers with a pair of butcher knives.

Reports indicate Police  responded to a call of an injured child at an Esser Avenue residence when the grandmother allegedly came at officers with a pair of butcher knives. A veteran officer shot and killed the woman, who reportedly has a history of mental illness. The injured child turned out to be her four-year-old grandson, who she allegedly had stabbed.
