Buffalo Sabres Gift Wrap Game For Carolina
After the Buffalo Sabres impressive win over the Philadelphia Flyers the night before the only question was could they do it two nights in a row? The answer came quickly - nope. The Carolina Hurricanes needed just 33 seconds to open the scoring Saturday night against a lazy and disinterested Sabres team and the result was a 4-2 loss.
Not that they have much success against any team in the NHL this season, but the Carolina Hurricanes seem to expose all of the Sabres' flaws and cash in on them. Chad Johnson got the start in goal and the Sabres gave him no support offensively or defensively.
Sabres coach Phil Housley was right on the money when after the game he said "they were physical, we didn't match that. They competed, we didn't match that. We were slow, they looked fast." Basically the Sabres punched their time card but didn't come to work and it was obvious.
Nathan Beaulieu and Zemgus Girgensons scored the Buffalo goals in the first of seven straight games away from KeyBank Center during the World Juniors Championships. The Sabres next start is Wednesday night against the New York Islanders.
