Over 150 riders will ride over 100 miles for the Buffalo chapter of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The 2017 Ride for Missing Children is Friday, May 19, starting at New Era Field.  But it's not just a ride -- it's an experience!

First, continuing the importance of the "buddy system" message, riders will ride 2x2 at a reasonable pace (about 15 mph), lead by local law enforcement.  The ride will make stops at schools along the way for educational rest stops. They'll pay silent tributes to missing children, recovered children, and fallen officers.  A big celebration at the end of the route (which also ends at New Era Field) will wrap up the ride.

Last year's ride raised over $55,000, ALL of which stays right here in Western New York. The Buffalo branch covers all 8 counties of WNY, and the money is used to go right back into the community with outreach .  They spend time in schools, but also summer camps, church groups, scout groups, and any other place children are present!

So what are some tips for how -- and when -- to talk to your kids?  "Stranger Danger" is no longer the message! Listen to my entire interview with Kathy Gust, program director for NCMEC's Buffalo Office, here!
