If you haven't bought the bird yet, this may save you a couple bucks!

Don't pay more just because the label says "cage-free".

With turkeys, that's just marketing.

Every single turkey that comes from American farms is already cage-free, because they're just not raised in cages.  Companies only put it on labels to make you feel better, and feel like it's worth the extra couple bucks.

(It should be noted that with CHICKENS, "cage-free" is a real thing.  "Cage-free" egss means the hen didn't spend its whole life in a tiny cage)

Also, the phrase "young turkey" or "hormone-free" mean nothing either (again, turkey-specific).

It's illegal to use hormones on turkeys in this country.

And every turkey sold at the grocery store is "young"....no one is going to feed them an extra 5 years to sell you an OLD turkey.

Maybe this guy's on to something... ? :)
