Changes are being made for this weekend's Buffalo Marathon, including beefing up security.

As a results of the events at the Boston Marathon bombings, there will be several changes to this year's Buffalo Marathon, which takes place Sunday.

Runners and onlookers are being told to use extra caution and not leave bags unattended. Police are also putting extra patrols on the water and officers on horses and in the air.

Marathon runners start at 7 a.m. in front of the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Pearl Street in downtown Buffalo. All streets on the marathon route will begin to close at 6:30 a.m. on race day and will begin to reopen starting at 10 a.m. Residents in those neighborhoods should take note of the street closures and plan accordingly.
