In an interview with George Stephanopoulos to be aired on tonight's "Nightline", Condolezza Rice tells of an event that happened in the months following 9/11 when she was accompanying President Bush on a trip to China.

On a secure video conference line she with the President had received a call from Vice President Chaney that said...

"White House detectors have detected botulinum toxin, and we were all– those of who exposed were going to die".

According to the Center for Biosecurity, Botulinum toxin is the “most poisonous substance known” and “extremely potent and lethal.”

The exposure time meant that she and those on the China trip — Bush, Secretary of State Colin Powell and Chief of Staff Andy Card — were all at risk. Around noon the next day Rice's assistant Steven Hadley called to tell her – it was a false alarm.
