Cyndi Lauper is getting ready to kick off a global tour in support of her upcoming country project, Detour. The musical icon will begin her trek in Nashville, at the Ryman Auditorium, on May 9 and stop in 27 cities in the U.S. and overseas before wrapping up in Paris, France, on July 11.

"There’s something so very magical about the Ryman and all the rich history there," Lauper says in a press release. "Just to think it’s the same stage where Wanda Jackson and Patsy Cline performed so long ago, and here I am singing songs they made famous on this record. It’s such an honor."

A list of all of Lauper's Detour Tour stops is below; at a handful of dates, she will be joined by Boy George. Additional details are available on Lauper's official website.

Detour is set for release on May 6. The project includes 12 tracks and plenty of country guest stars, including Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Jewel and Willie Nelson. Gill lends his voice to a song called "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly," and Nelson sings with Lauper on "Night Life."

“When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to,” Lauper says. “These songs are part of some of my earliest memories.”
