A mother's voice can calm tears or provide assurance and support. While you're growing up, you'll hear her cheering in the stands at lacrosse games, baseball practice or whatever activities you may do.

Can you imagine how it would feel to not be able to hear her...ever? And then, one day, she's there saying your name.

Two-year-old Cooper, who was born with a "profound hearing loss," received cochlear implants last September, allowing him to hear for the first time ever! Check out his reaction to hearing his mom say his name for the first time.

"Usually, when the implants are first activated, children cry or do nothing," Cooper's mom, Lauren LaScala, told Yahoo!. "His response is very rare--we got lucky."
