April 8th is going to be a big deal here in New York State as parts of the state are in the direct path of the Total Solar Eclipse.

There will be viewing parties all over the state and millions of people are expected to stop what they are doing and look towards the sky around 3:18 pm to see the Total Solar Eclipse.

EXTRA: WILL IT BE CLOUDY FOR THE ECLIPSE?

One local eye doctor is warning people to not do this when they look at the eclipse.

Dr. Ephraim Atwal from Atwal Ete Center warns people to never look at the sun with special eyewear, including during the solar eclipse.

"At no point is it ever safe to look at the sun regardless of whether there is a beautiful moon in front of it. We recommend that everyone use ISO certificated solar glasses"

EXTRA: THESE SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE ECLIPSE

You can listen to Dr. Atwal's whole interview about Eclipse viewing safety here.
