The gauntlet has been thrown by Corpus Christi Church to find The Best Pierogi’s in Buffalo. The Best Pierogi contest is celebrating its fourth year, and since Buffalo is a town full of pierogi connoisseurs, it’s no big surprise that the contest has grown from 14 contestants to 35 last year.

The contest is open to any amateur cooks and restaurants that think they serve out the cities best pierogi’s.

There will be three mouthwatering categories of competition the first is Homemade Traditional – boiled or fried pierogi filled with cheese, cheese/potato or kapusta (pickled or fresh cabbage) with or without mushrooms, carrots, etc. The second category is Homemade Non-Traditional, this category is for the more artsy applicant, and the guidelines are pretty simple all the entrants must remember is that the pierogi is a stuffed pocket of dough. And finally the third category is the Commercial which is open to any business that is using a traditional recipe. So if you think you are sitting on the best pierogi recipe in the city get you application in to Corpus Christi by August 13. The contest itself will be judged by a celebrity panel on August 20 at 4:30 pm during the church’s annual Polish Harvest Festival. Check out the church website for all the details.
