Anybody out there remember 2gether (you might have seen it written 2ge+her or 2Ge+Her; it all refers to the same band)? Sure you do. They were all over MTV at the end of the 90's. They had a couple of hits. And now they want to do a reunion show. The only problem is they weren't a real band...

First, to refresh your memory, here's their first notable hit, U + Me = Us (Calculus):

[tboy24, via YouTube / Copywrite 2000, MTV Productions]

The five members of the group were brought together to star in a TV movie [not unlike the process that created 60's pop band The Monkees], a parody of both that band, and the boy-band craze of the 90's. The TV movie aired on MTV, and did well enough that a weekly series was created [it was cancelled before the end of its second season, when band member Michael Cuccione died of cancer].

10 years pass. It's 2011, and now the surviving members are back together, trying to sell MTV (or somebody)  on the idea of making a fake documentary about the fake band's fake return. Reportedly, the band wants a major portion of any profits from the show given for cancer research, in memory of Cuccione.

Before you write this off as another bad idea, remember that the band was good enough to open for Britney Spears at several shows of her 2000 tour. New Kids On The Block/Backstreet Boys did pretty well on their combined reunion tour. There is the problem of who would replace Cuccione, who played "the cute one" in 2gether, but that's not insurmountable...

Can anyone say Justin Bieber?
