Additional Information

This event is coordinated through Roswell Park’s Team Cure program, in support of critical cancer research and patient support programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Almost all of us know someone touched by cancer. But the good news is that thanks to efforts of places like Roswell Park, advances in treatment and quality of life care provide hope for remission and hope for a cure.

Bridget Schuh was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2008. During her six-year battle against the disease, she was cared for at Roswell Park, as was her mother Janet, who predeceased her in February 2008. Bridget and her husband Tom produced a series of musical benefits during Bridget's treatment, raising approximately $10,000 for Roswell Park during 2010-11. Bridget succumbed to her disease on January 6, 2014. In her memory, her family and friends are rallying to make this year's event the biggest yet. More than ten bands have committed to appear, and more surprises are on the way!

Funds raised through Team Cure events have supported the launch of numerous research studies such as:

  • Defining a unique role of a tumor suppressing gene in childhood leukemia
  • Exploring genetic pathways to slow down aging and reduce the risk of age-related cancers
  • Using photodynamic therapy with surgery to more effectively destroy cancer cells
  • The anti-cancer effects of vitamin D on certain types of lung cancer
  • Exploring kidney cancer’s resistance to certain cancer therapies

We hope that you, your family, co-workers and loved ones will join us as we seek to raise critically needed funds to support Roswell Park and help bring hope and compassionate care to thousands of Roswell Park patients and their families who are facing cancer today, and those who may need our help tomorrow. On behalf of Roswell Park we ask that you please consider supporting this great event in any way that you are able. We have special need for raffle and auction prizes, theme baskets and the like.

If you have any questions, please contact Tom Schuh at tpschuh62@gmail.com or by calling 716-866-8897. Thank you for your support. Together, we’ll make a difference in so many lives!
