A Cheektowaga fire displaced seven people over the weekend, and the cause is still under investigation.

The fire started in the garage on Long Avenue and quickly spread to two other homes. Firefighters say that the closeness of the houses and strong winds definitely played a factor in helping the fire to spread.

One firefighter was injured on the scene after a collapse in one of the structure. He was taken to ECMC and treated for a shoulder injury.

Homeowners were at the scene when the fire started, and they are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
