I'm a Western New York native, but for a period of time I lived and worked in other states. While away from home the one thing that drove me crazy was not being able to enjoy the great food unique to our area. Try getting a pizza as good as La Nova or Boccee Club in other states. As you know it can't be done!

So every time I visited it meant a trip to Tops or Wegmans to stock up on our favorites. There are so many products made in Buffalo it's amazing! Here are just a few of my must haves:

  • Sahlen's

Sahlen's hot dogs and Teds hot dog sauce.

Here's the game plan. I would stock up on Sahlen's then swing by Ted's and buy their sauce. That way when I returned home I could fire up the real charcoal grill and recreate a Ted's hot dog experience!

    Anchor Bar Wing Sauce

With a tip of the hat to Duff's, make mine Anchor Bar. The day they started putting their wing sauce in a bottle was a happy event!

    Weber's Horseradish Mustard.

What is it about this spicy mustard that makes it a must have? Sure it's the horseradish, but there's something else I can't quite put my finger on. It's a product that has become a brand name like Kleenex. Hot dog vendors will ask you do you want mustard, or Weber's?

    Crystal Beach Loganberry

What exactly is a Loganberry? I'm not sure and don't care. All I know this fruit flavored drink is one of a kind. I have never seen it anywhere else except Western new York.it's perfect to wash down a Shalen's hot dog with!

    Bison French Onion Dip

My wife and kids are hooked on this stuff. It's always in the refrigerator, no matter where we were living! As a life long bills fan, Sundays at the Ralph always meant shouting "it's not the chip, it's the dip" when the commercial came on the Jumbo-tron.
