Five Things to Lockdown Before This Weekend’s Windstorm
The National Weather Service has issued a high winds warning for all of western New York. We could see wind gust upwards of 70 miles per hour. Seems like every seven days or so we're seeing high winds blow across the region. I can't tell you how many times I've seen my neighbors belongings blowing down the street because they neglected to bring items into their garage or failed to secure them some how.
Here are my top five things that you need to make sure are secured before the high winds hit tonight.
- 1
Garbage Cans and Recycling Containers
Can't tell you how many of these have made their way into the my yard. The larger totes can actually cause damage when they hit something.
- 2
Christmas Decorations
Face it, we're just days away from Spring, you should have taken your Christmas decorations down weeks ago.
- 3
Lawn Furniture
With the nice weather we've been having many people have put their lawn furniture out. Unless you want to see them damaged you should bring them in tonight.
- 4
Kids Toys
There's always one house in the neighborhood that has kids toys left outside year round. Big wheels, bikes, balls, bats, the list goes on and on. Take this opportunity to clean up your yard and put those toys away.
- 5
Trampoline
I've lost one of these myself to a storm so I know what I'm talking about. A trampoline becomes a giant kite in a wind storm so anchor yours down now.
