It seems that almost everyone has that one person in their life who is the hardest to buy a gift for, no matter what the occasion.

Delilah explains that you should get creative when it comes to buying a gift for this specific person. A listener tells this story of how she managed to find the right gift for that particular "hard-to-buy" person.

Everyone has that hard-to-buy-for person in their life. It causes an unnecessary burden of stress to buy for this person because you feel like you have to get them something, even though they don’t need anything. So, you’re forced to get creative. Well, today I’m here to help you with that dilemma. Actually, Patty is here to help with an idea I think is too good not to share…

My daddy was one of those who had everything he wanted and was in a position to buy whatever he wanted. One of those "what do you buy for the man who has everything" type of person. Whenever I would ask him what he wanted for Christmas he would always say "Nothing. Don't spend your money on me, spend it on the kids."

Many years ago I began taking my children to select "angels" from the Salvation Army Angel Tree. I let each one of my children select an angel, then we would use the money that we would have spent on my daddy and buy gifts for "his" angels. Then I would write a poem describing the gifts and their recipients and attach it to an angel ornament. We would wrap that up for him and each Christmas Daddy would get three new angels (1 from each of my children). He loved it so much that he would ask for it again year after year, and a tradition was born.

My daddy passed away in August; however we are continuing the tradition of buying Daddy’s Angels and will also purchase toys for his birthday. My kids are nearly grown now (21, 18, 14), but they each still select an angel for their grandfather.

Delilah, I want to challenge your listeners, readers, friends and family: if you have someone who is "hard to buy for" try buying them an angel. I guarantee it is a gift that will always please! Merry Christmas.

Patty
