A former Amherst resident is facing charges after police say that she attempted to hire an assassin.

56-year-old Debra Arno was going to pay $20,000 to have her ex-husband, his new wife and their daughter killed. Police were tipped off to the situation and found documents that Arno provided to the would-be killer.

The alleged killer's home was raided, where police found cell phones, three shotguns and several documents outlining the victims and their home.

Debra Arno has been charged with federal murder-for-hire, with a penalty of 10 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.
