From Bad To Worse To Better — Delilah’s Reflections

Nobody knows what’s going to happen next, day in and day out. One thing can go from good to bad, from bad to worse, and so on.

But Delilah explains that even the bad can turn into good when it’s least expected. A listener shared her story of how something went from bad to worse to, well, better than she ever thought.

Today I’m going to share another “Isn’t it amazing how things work out” kind of story. It’s interesting how things can go from bad to worse…and then one day you realize it all happened for a reason. This is how I imagine loyal listener Judy feels when she looks back on the past decade of her life.

Wow…do we have a story…something that proves good can come out of bad. Many years ago, I was lying in bed when I smelled a sulfur smell and got up. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, my smoke detector went off. I ran to the top to see my bed engulfed in flames!

I quickly grabbed my dog. Thank God it was daytime, with my daughter in school and my husband at work. I managed to get out with the dog and I unharmed. But the house was burnt to a crisp…we had lost everything.

We hired a company to rebuild our home for us. It took its toll in that 8 years later I was divorced. The man who rebuilt my home was also divorced…and little did I know all this time he had a crush on me. He hung the sheet rock and actually wrote behind one wall stating “I think I love you…”

About a year after my divorce I needed some repair work and someone mentioned the same company. I called and (surprise!) got asked out on a date. We have been married 5 years this coming February.
