Up until The Disney Channel produces the very first frame of footage from its forthcoming 'Boy Meets World' sequel series / spin-off 'Girl Meets World,' many fans will keep to their skepticism that the new effort can recapture the magic of the old. We've even heard a few past cast members assuring audiences of their reference for 'Boy Meets World,' amid insistence the show will be its own entity, but what does Cory Matthews himself think? Ben Savage himself recently opened up with some new thoughts about 'Girl Meets World...

Whether because we're old enough, or Hollywood has simply run out of new ideas, we've all lived through the threat of a new project aiming to destroy our childhoods. Will 'Girl Meets World' be the next to sully our collective youths with an affront to 'Boy Meets World?' As with his co-star and on-screen wife Danielle Fishel, series star Ben Savage spoke out in favor of giving the show a chance to make new memories, rather than taint the old. Per Rolling Stone:

It's funny, a lot of the tweets and emails and mentions I've gotten are from a lot of people who are worried that the show wont' hold up. And that we shouldn't do it because it's going to ruin a lot of their childhood memories. And I totally can understand that – I get it.

I know there are things that they've done in the past where I feel like it's ruined my childhood memories. And I didn't like that. But we're really working hard and doing everything we can to make sure that this is going to be something special and funny, and hopefully it'll make new memories for a new generation.

But the real question still looms over the series, what other past stars could return apart from Danielle Fishel and Savage? Will fans be able to focus on the story of young Riley Matthews and her friend Maya, or be too distracted by 'Boy Meets World' characters? "Obviously, I don't want to give away too many details, but there's definitely been discussions about some of everyone's favorite characters popping up in the show and making appearances," says Savage. "We'll see what happens."

Bread Sandwich Ben Savage believes the 'Girl Meets World' pilot could shoot as early as February, but what say you? Will reverence for 'Boy Meets World' inevitably make 'Girl Meets World' ruin our childhoods?
