In this second Britney Spears focused ‘Glee’ episode of the series, Brittany S. Pierce (Heather Morris) attempts to get her place back in the spotlight by using tactics gleaned from her idol. Relying on the character’s trademark ditziness and a parody of the pop-star’s tabloid antics, this episode explores the public persona of Britney.

Brittany plays up the antics of Britney Spears circa 2007, from shaving her head to attacking paparazzi in an anger fueled rage as a passerby yells out, “Leave Brittany alone!” Further in the episode, Brittany lip syncs and botches her pep rally performance, wearing a replica of the outfit Britney wore in her much talked about VMA performance of ‘Gimme More.'

As we later learn through her conversation with Sam (Chord Overstreet), Brittany is not going insane because of depression. Instead, everything she did was part of a calculated attempt to earn a comeback like her pop-counterpart, who turned her career around and scored a spot on the ‘X Factor.'

Of course, Brittany is not the only character who lets out her inner Britney (Rachel, played by Lea Michele, uses the pop star’s persona to show off her own sexuality), but she certainly does it best. Who knew the comic relief character had such a cunning plan in her?
