On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposed cutting the penalty for public possession of a small amount of marijuana, a change in state law that would diffuse some criticism of the New York Police Department's stop-and-frisk policy in minority communities.

The bill would reduce the criminal misdemeanor to a violation with a fine up to $100 and would save thousands of New Yorkers -- disproportionately Black and Hispanic youths -- from unnecessary arrests and criminal charges.

Truthfully, Gov. Cuomo is not about legalizing marijuana but clarifying the law. He still wants selling and smoking/burning marijuana to be against the law. But what do you think -- is even decriminalizing possession still going too far?
