Governor Cuomo Proposes Loan Forgiveness Program For College Students

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the "Get On Your Feet Loan Forgiveness Program" yesterday, which is the fifth component of his "2015 Opportunity Agenda."The program has been designed to help college graduates with the struggles of paying back student loans once they graduate, and they now have the opportunity to defer loans for up to two years.

The qualifications for the new program include...

*Students must attend college in New York State

*Continue to live in New York State after graduation

*Must participate in the "Pay As You Earn" program

*Make less than 50-thousand dollars a year
