Governor Andrew Cuomo delivered his State of the State address on Wednesday, and education was quite a hot topic especially in Buffalo.  Cuomo outlined his plan for major educational reform. His goal is to make it easier to terminate bad teachers, and reward the ones that excel in their teaching performance. The Governor also called for more accurate teacher evaluations, and addressed issues that are not so popular with the state teachers union.

Andrew Cuomo also took time to praise Buffalo as an internationally known turn around phenomenon - "If you can turn around Buffalo, you can turn around anything."

The Buffalo School District is now facing a federal lawsuit alleging that it discriminates again non-white students.

The Governor said "Buffalo has been a failing district for many, many years" and went on to say that state aid per Buffalo student is twice the state average, but without results.
