Are you suffering from a HANGOVER?!? (Oops sorry h-a-n-g-o-v-e-r.).  Well my weary friends read on for quick cures to help make you feel as fresh as Baby New Year

By now, all the well wishes have been conveyed.  The kisses and hugs have been given, tears have been shed and champagne corks have been popped and popped and popped.  If you were one of many who celebrated the New Year by participating in “adult beverages” or “wobble pops” as I like to call them today may or may not be a good start towards a Happy New Year.

The best advice is “DO NOT DRINK” or “EVERYTHING IN MODERATION” but this is New Year’s Day NOT New Year’s Eve, that ship has sailed.

Therefore, if you are feeling like me, the words you are reading are blurry so I will keep this short and sweet.

(Like the shots of Jager you were doing less than 24 hours ago)-

FIRST:  The most important thing to do is hydrate yourself.  This is a personal preference, whatever you can stomach.  Water is the natural go to beverage but I recommend any sports drink.   Watermelon works wonders in getting rid of your "fuzzy tongue" and really helps quench your thirst (my grandmother told me that and I know swear by it).  I personally prefer the “hair of the dog” method.  The Bloody Mary is my go to but Mimosas work well too.  I know the method is frowned upon but I am not a doctor and I am just passing along what works for me, I do not suggest you do it, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

SECOND:  EAT!  I know the thought of food right now may make you feel worse but trust me it will help.  When I say eat I do not mean a few crackers or bread, you my boozed up brethren need grease.  Scarf down burgers, bacon and eggs, pizza, wings.  Anything greasy to help absorb the poison that is currently in your system.  Worse case scenario, you cannot “contain the meal” and everything will be exhumed from your body. This will also make you feel better.

THIRD:  Engage in a hot shower or bath.  This will help you sweat out the toxins. You will also be close to your other best friend in the bathroom, the “alter of the porcelain god”.

FOURTH: Rest up.  This is pretty self explanatory, do not operate heavy machinery or drive.  It is possible you still may be under the influence and getting arrested for a DUI is not the way to start 2011.

Remedies for headaches:

  • Squeeze the flesh between the thumb and first finger of either hand for 30 seconds.  Repeat two or three times.
  • Drink tart cherry juice
  • Soak your feet in hot water for about 15 minutes, or until the water gets lukewarm.  Put on warm, cotton socks and lie down for 15 minutes

Good luck and take care.  Let me know any of your cures or if any of these tips worked for you!  Happy new year, if I see you out I’ll buy you a drink!
