The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has outlined

a MODERATE RISK for severe thunderstorms on Thursday for our part of New York state. Damaging winds, potentially widespread and significant, will be the primary threat. There may also be a tornado risk in a narrow corridor from parts of New York State to southern New England.

Thunderstorms greeted most of us in the overnight hours today and they are expected to continue through tonight. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain, temperatures close to 80. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Tonight Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.
