According to a report from The Buffalo News, a 24-year old hiker was discovered by fishermen early Sunday morning on the lower gorge trail.

The News reports the man fell a distance of approximately 50-feet into the lower gorge, with police describing him "as alert but unable to move his body due to multiple fractures." The police said the man "was on the upper gorge rim trail and lost his bearings in the dark."

MercyFlight was called to assist in the rescue.
