The East Side of Buffalo was once the second largest Polish-American community in the United States. Jefferson Avenue and the intersection of Broadway and Fillmore are the most heavily used commercial districts of the area.

Located approximately two miles from downtown, the historic district contains Broadway Market, St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Church, St. Adalbert's Basilica, Corpus Christi Church, Buffalo Central Terminal and The Adam Mickiewicz Library.
