The Buffalo-Niagara International and Niagara Falls Airports have officially banned hoverboards from their terminals because of concerns over the lithium batteries.

Hoverboards gained lots of attention because of their futuristic look, and quickly became one of the most popular Christmas gifts of 2015. However, dangers with hoverboards also gained attention, including the possibility that the battery could catch on fire or even explode.

Airlines at both local airports will not allow travelers to transport hoverboards in a checked or carry-on bag.
