You've probably heard this before, but now SCIENCE backs it up!

You CAN lose 10 pounds before the holidays. (I call that pre-emptive dieting to make room for the 12 you're gonna GAIN during the holidays so at the end of the year, you've really only packed on 2...)

Here's the "secret":

Water.

Yep, drink a pint (16 oz) of water 30 minutes before each meal.  You'll feel full, so you eat less.

Those who did this lost 9.5 pounds in three months!

Those who DIDN'T (or only had one glass for ONE meal) only lost 1.7 pounds in three months. What's the point?

Of course this doesn't mean you can drink a glass of water on your way through the drive-thru, super-size it, and add hot fudge to the sundae and lay on the couch all day and lose those 10 pounds.  But the water did make a huge difference.
