I've had my dog Shadow for a year and a half now. When I lived in North Carolina, he was perfectly happy sleeping on the floor in his bed, which was next to my bed. Occasionally I would invite him to sleep on my bed, but he would usually end up back on his bed before I woke up in the morning.

When I moved to New York, things changed. The last couple of weeks he's jumped onto my bed after I've fallen asleep and was still there in the morning when I woke up.  I thought it was just a new place and he wasn't used to it yet.

I received the article below in an email yesterday and I think it makes a lot of sense (for my situation at least).  Shadow is 2 years old and he is pretty obedient, but he has his bad puppy moments too (more bad moments recently than normal). After reading the article I think it was a bit of a power struggle for us and now I know better how to handle the bed situation. I hope this helps you make sense of what may be happening with your pup you have now or in the future!
