It’s Official, Tonawanda Coke Factory Is Closed

The shutdown of the Tonawanda Coke facility is officially complete according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

The state had been working with officials from the company all this week on closing and shutting the plan down in a clean and safe way.

Officials said that all the gas lines have been purged and all the coke ovens are now empty.
