Kanye West has been full of surprises lately. The rapper's latest?  An announcement that he's dropping a new album this summer.

It's only been a few weeks since the Chi-Town native dropped his eighth studio album, The Life of Pablo. The grandiose rollout took place at Madison Square Garden alongside the unveiling of Yeezy Season 3.

So, it threw us a little off guard when Ye announced "new album coming this summer" on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 24) at the end of yet another Twitter rant. Earlier this year the "UltraLight Beam" rapper announced the return of GOOD Fridays. And so far, he's made good on that promise with the release of new tracks.

So perhaps the album of the summer will be another compilation a la 2012's G.O.O.D. Music release Cruel Summer. Either way, it's certainly something to be on the lookout for.

After the monumental announcement, West returned to his erratic and emotional tweets. "I love being a voice of freedom when so many people are scared to speak up," reads one tweet from Yeezy -- who goes on to proclaim that he is "not a rapper."

He also shared a video which he says "best explains my experience in fashion and with fashion people in general." The link leads to a scene from the Disney film Wreck-it Ralph. And now we're wondering if North and Saint West are creative consultants to their 38-year-old dad.

Either way, we continue to hope that Ye is alright and we're happy to know that Kirk Franklin has his back. "Kirk Franklin just sent me a blessing. I needed that. Thank you minister," read another tweet from Ye. He also shared that the ...Pablo track "Waves" is the No. 1 streamed song this week. Congrats Kanye!
