It's been over 20 years since the brutal 1994 murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, then-ex-wife of former NFL player O.J. Simpson. Now, Kardashian Klan matriarch Kris Jenner is speaking out about her regret over not being able to help her friend in time.

In a new Lifetime Movie Network documentary airing on September 30, Jenner reveals having had deep concerns over the seemingly abusive relationship between Nicole, a close friend of Jenner's at the time, and Nicole's ex-husband, sharing, "At the end of Nicole's life, I think she finally was at a place where she knew she had to be more vocal with what was going on and she was in trouble."

In a particularly chilling clip from Jenner's interview, the TV personality and famous "momager" also claims that Nicole had a sense of what was about to happen to her. "The one thing she would tell all of us by the time, you know, it got to that level was, 'He's going to kill me and he's going to get away with it,'" Jenner shares, according to ABC News.

What's even more complicated, of course, is Jenner's intimate connection to the man who ultimately was responsible for the acquittal of O.J., who had been the prime suspect of the murder and is still widely regarded by the public as the likely murderer to this day. Robert Kardashian, Jenner's late ex-husband and father of Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, and Robert Kardashian, served on the former football star's defense team.

O.J., who is currently serving time for committing theft at gunpoint (among other charges) in 2007, was acquitted of the murder in 1995.

Yet despite her ex-husband having an instrumental hand in getting the charges against O.J. Simpson dropped, it's clear that Kris is still emotionally torn, and regrets how she handled her friendship with Nicole in the end. "I will always feel guilty that I didn't pay more attention," Kris shares, adding, "[or that I] didn't speak up when I thought anything was wrong or asked her more, [like] 'Do you want to talk about it?'"
