Laura’s #1 Track Throwback: Lipps Inc.

The legendary disco group Lipps Inc. originated in Minneapolis, Minnesota and got their big break with the release of their first single, "Rock It."

Lipps Inc. went on to release their debut album Mouth To Mouth in 1979.

The second single released from the album is featured as  Laura's #1 Track Throwback today... Funkytown... The song speny four weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Dance Music Club Play charts in the United States. Funkytown sold over two million within the first two months of it's release, and was deemed a platinum record within it's first year of release.

Future releases by Lipps Inc. continuously failed, and the group eventually split up two years after the release of their last album, 4, in 1983.
