Niagara Falls State Park, Cave of the Winds, Maid of the Mist, Prospect Point, the Aquarium of Niagara, Whirlpool State Park -- Niagara Falls is home to a lot of great attractions that are recognized around the country.

But what about those whole-in-the-wall attractions most of us don't know about? Are there little-known tourist spots to check out in Niagara County?

Niagara Science Museum 

Located in the original 1910 National Carbon Company office building, the Niagara Science Museum opened with an exhibition by Dr. Reinhard Reitzenstein and Dr. Gary Nickard and serves as "a sanctuary for the preservation and appreciation of old science instruments and philosophical apparatus".

Lewiston Mound and Lewiston Portage Landing Site

This Native American Hopewell-style burial mound dates to 160 AD and is located at Artpark State Park in Lewiston. The spot marks where fur traders land their vessels to portage their boats to the upper landing above Niagara Falls.
